Geology: Intro to Rockhounding 1-lesson Online Class

Does your learner love rocks and minerals? How about collecting rocks and minerals? Come join me as we learn the basics for collecting rocks and minerals!

When I was 8 years old, my uncle Paul took me on a rockhounding adventure I will never forget! We went to a special location in Ellenville, NY, where we climbed a mountainside looking for quartz crystals. It was quite the treasure hunt for me as I sifted carefully through the gravel looking for the crystals sparkling in the sunlight. We found some decently sized crystals, some as large as an adult thumbnail, but many as small as the tips of my child-sized fingers. Finding these clear quartz crystals wet my appetite for studying and looking for rocks and minerals for a lifetime!
